Dartmouth Amateur Athletics Club members started 2012 in fine fashion as they headed to Exeter for the popular First Chance 10k race.

This annual event, which took place on Sunday, January 20, is a fast, flat race along paths and cycleways by the river Exe and the Exeter Canal, and saw almost 500 runners line up for the starting gun.

Rupert Kempley was the quickest of all the DAAC runners, romping round in 39.22 to finish sixth in the MV45 category.

Next through the tape was Nick Roberts, clocking 42.02 to earn 16th spot in the MV40 group.

Rebecca Hodge finished in 48.12, good enough for seventh in the FV35s.

Stephen Wallace arrived shortly after, in a time of 49.49 to come 14th in the MV55s.

Marie Jones had a storming run on the day, completing the course in 52.44 to claim second place in the FV60 category.

Alison McGrigor breasted the tape with the clock reading 57.17 for 19th in the FV45 group to complette the runners from the Dartmouth club.
