Dartmouth Rowing Club continued with their hungry appetite for silverware as they claimed another five trophies on Saturday at Torquay Regatta. Conditions were very good over the 1,000m course, with the rowing to match.
The junior rowers did not disappoint, with Alice Middleton and Teagan Peel teaming up with Wimbleball RC to win the J14 coxed quad. Jordan Watkins and Torin Peel won J14 double sculls.
In the boys’ J14 singles, Torin and Jordan put in very good sculls, coming second and third respectively. In the girls’ J14 Teagan and Alice also came second and third.
The women’s novice scull was a very tight race, with Jess Middleton taking second after a neck-and-neck race all the way down the course.
Dartmouth senior rowers seem to be raising their game just when it’s needed. Luke Sharam and Will Cumberlidge won the men’s senior C double scull. Will also went on to claim his first sculling win in the men’s novice single after winning his earlier heat.
The men’s novice double saw Will Atkins and Sam Fotheringham race for the first time together and claim a creditable second.
In the men’s senior C coxed four, Luke Sharam, Adam Sharam, Crispin Brabner, Will Cumberlidge and cox Marie Lang rowed hard against Castledore RC.
With 30 strokes left to the finish, Dartmouth pulled clear of Castledore to claim victory.
The crew now go into Dartmouth Regatta with a four-point lead and an opportunity to win the WEARA Championship on home water.
