IAN DOWNING, of Churchfields, Dartmouth, writes:
I have discovered that the X-ray department at the hospital is now closed and the £60,000 X-ray machine, which the League of Friends purchased for the hospital, is to be transferred to Totnes.
The Dartmouth public contributed the funds for this machine from their own pockets, and many, like myself, were X-rayed on it for different health reasons and avoided having to travel for this to Totnes.
The clinical commissioning group apparently said there are not enough radiographers to operate a machine in Dartmouth, yet many of us know that when staff was short in the past, the X-ray department was operated by visiting staff and this worked well.
Can our GPs and the Patient Participation Group ask the CCG to review this decision please and confirm that a physiotherapy service will also remain in the town.
