Police are hunting a pair of muggers who threatened a woman with a bottle in the middle of Dartmouth before robbing her of £60.

The 27-year-old victim was pushed to the ground before the two muggers ran off with her purse and its contents.

The woman was unhurt but was left 'very upset' and 'frightened' by the attack, a police spokesman said.

Police have moved to calm concerns over the robbery saying: 'This is the first robbery of its kind we have had in Dartmouth for many years. It is an extremely rare event and police are investigating.'

The attack took place on the path between Archway Drive and College Way at Townstal at 2.30pm on Sunday, December 2.

Both men were wearing dark hoodies and had scarves covering their faces.

They threatened the woman with a bottle before pushing her to the ground and snatching her purse containing the cash and other cards and documents.

The woman did not report the attack until some six hours later.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have saw the attackers in the area or who may have any information.

They are asked to contact the police on 101, quoting crime reference JH12471.
