POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old man from Dartmouth was seriously assaulted on Friday, February 8 in Exeter.

The incident took place between 11pm on Friday, February 8 and 12.40am on Saturday, February 9 near to The Foyer on Commercial Road.

Two men aged 20 and 21 years believed to be from the Brixham area were arrested and appeared at Exeter Magistrates court on Monday, February 11. They were charged with robbery and grievous bodily harm with intent. They have since been let out on bail but due to the severity of the case it has been referred to Exeter Crown Court on Tuesday, February 26.

The 18-year-old sustained severe injuries to his head, after being held to the ground and kicked repeatedly.

He was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, remaining in a critical condition over the weekend. It is believed all three were at music venue, the Cellar Door, Exeter, on the evening of the incident.
