Mix together one large shot of Tequila, add a touch of Paul Young (yes THE Paul Young!), mixed with some rocking music and you have the perfect cocktail for a great night out.
Paul Young and his band Los Pacaminos are coming to The Flavel in Dartmouth.
Originally in the early 80’s band the Q-Tips, Paul Young went solo in the 80’s and his career took off with the album ‘No Parlez’ which produced his first No 1 hit ‘Wherever I Lay My Hat’ and further top 10 hits such as ‘Love of The Common People’ ‘Everytime You Go Away’ and ‘Everything Must Change’.
He is also a Brit Award winner for Best Male vocalist, sings the opening lines on the original Band Aid Single ‘Feed The World ‘and performed at Live Aid in 1984. Paul is a family man, keen chef, biker and fan of all things Mexicana!
He still tours his classic hits as a solo artist but often plays with his Tex Mex/Americana band Los Pacaminos. The roots of Tex-Mex music lie somewhere between the Mariachi style of Mexico and the Country/Blues sounds of South-West America played by such luminaries as Ry Cooder, Flaco Jimenez, The Texas Tornados and Los Lobos.
Mix that together with blues, rock ‘n’ roll and a hint of South American music and you have a typical Los Pacaminos set. Songs like ‘Wooly Bully’, ‘La Bamba’ and sometimes, if enough tequila is flowing, even ‘Speedy Gonzales’ are included.
As Paul said: “Los Pacaminos started out just for fun, playing simply for the pleasure of it. It all took off from there. It’s real bar room stuff: foot stompers, not too many slow songs – a real party atmosphere.”
If you’d like to join in the party come along to the Flavel at 8pm on Thursday, September 20, enjoy some nachos and feel free to dress up and get into the spirit of the occasion. Tex Mex food will be available throughout the evening.
