Emma Handley, bureau manager, South Hams Citizens Advice Bureau, Follaton House, Totnes, writes:
I'd like to respond to the article that was printed in the Dartmouth Chronicle on Friday, January 24.
It was reported that people are 'too embarrassed to seek debt help' which is not a message we wish to support.
People have issues, and we want to be able to help them in the best way we can.
We would like to re-assure people that help is available and that you will be welcomed and not judged. We are here to help.
We have a drop in service at the Clinic on Mayor's Avenue, Dartmouth, on Wednesday afternoons, from 2 to 3pm, where a volunteer is available to anyone who wishes to drop in and get advice.
Or you can ring us on 08444 111 444 from Monday to Thursday 10am to 4pm or email [email protected]">[email protected].
We also work very closely with Dartmouth Caring who are able to make direct referrals to our services. Please seek help as soon as possible as we are able to make a difference.
