Kevin Pyne, of Lake Street, Dartmouth, writes:

If there is a glimmer of hope with regard to our cottage hospital not closing and remaining open then we should all of us seize upon it.

I think I have listened to all the pluses and minuses and still believe that what is proposed as an alternative is not what we here in town or in Kingswear necessarily want.

So I will say again that when we are ill we want treating in our hospital within our community, and the professionals, including our doctors, need to listen to us.

Moreover, we know and trust all the staff, while the getting better factor of the hospital being in such a beautiful venue is incalculable.

But it will need someone to take on the administrators with vigour and enthusiasm in what will most likely be one hell of a fight?

What’s more, we owe it to the amazing, dedicated long-term staff to at least try.

And please don’t tell me that Torbay Hospital is fantastic, because I know better – to my everlasting cost.
