VIDEO: Over, £6,000 was raised at the Woofstock UK Charity Gala and show held in Dartmouth and will go to RNLI, Animals Asia and Gables FarmTo fulfil an auction promise bought by Captain Jolyon Woodard, Commanding Officer Britannia Royal Naval College, Heather Nesbitt dressed as a dog and walked around Dartmouth. At the Woofstock UK Charity Gala evening, Heather was un-expectantly auctioned to walk around the Woofstock UK site.
Heather Nesbitt said: “With the bid money promised by Captain Jol Woodard, who opened the show on Saturday and, due to how busy we were on the Saturday, I did not have the opportunity to do it. Hence my walk around on Thursday, to fulfil the promise. In total, the gala evening at the Flavel raised £2,095 for Animals Asia.
“The final numbers of guests at UK Woofstock was estimated at 1500 and, all in all including traders and staff, we estimate around 1,800 people and a few hundred dogs were there. The money raised from the Saturday will be split between Animals Asia and Gables Farm, each receiving £2,000. A further donation of £200 is being given to the RNLI.
“Myself and Carol are attending the Animals Asia Charity ball in London on Friday, November 17th, where we will be presenting a cheque to Jill Robinson MBE founder and CEO of the charity and Peter Egan Uk Ambassador to Animals Asia.
“Contact has been made with Gables Farm to present them with their cheque at the centre. We are not sure when the presentation will be as yet but hopefully within the next week, depending on their availability.
“Finally, we gave the bales, we used on the day of the show, to Ash Rescue Centre. They were purchased by us for £550 and donated to Ash rescue.”
Councillors who attended the event included Jonathan Hawkins who commented: “It was a well organised event that prompted Dartmouth and bought much business to the area and town. Just the kind of event that should be held on Coronation Park to bring people to Dartmouth”
