A recent letter from Iris King, July 27, has raised a very valid point about Dartmouth's Royal Avenue Gardens.

At times a local group or association will have permission to hold a fete of some description in the gardens in aid of local charities. It is good to wander in, chat to stallholders and good for town fellowship.

However, such permission should apply to, and be limited to local associations only; on no occasion should any normal retail unit have access to such an event; the town has other space available for such trading. But NOT in our gardens. One point well put Iris.
