Karen Hedges, of Whipton Village Road, Exeter, writes: Our enjoyment of day trip to Greenway with lunch in Dartmouth recently was marred due to an incident caused by a raised white line in the centre of Coombe Road outside the Floating Bridge Inn. Presumably, this is a road safety feature of some sort, but certainly not one I have encountered before. The white line itself is not difficult to see, but the fact that it is raised is not obvious to a pedestrian crossing the road, and unfortunately my elderly aunt tripped on it. As a result, she suffered a lot of bleeding and bruising to her face and knee. We would like to thank the kindness of people who witnessed her fall and rushed to her aid, and also to the staff at that minor injuries unit at Dartmouth Hospital, who checked her over and made sure she was fit to go home. What an asset to the town. People who we spoke to at the time of the accident told us that there had been a number of other cases of people tripping at exactly the same place. I wonder if the traffic authorities are aware of this?
