Dartmouth's Tourist Information Centre website has gone mobile in time for the town huge regatta celebrations.

The internet launch means that anyone using a mobile phone, tablet, Ipad etc will be able to access the centre website and all the information there.

Said a TIC spokesman: 'Visitors will be able to view our events, attractions, look at our shops, galleries, eating out places and places to stay.'

The Dartmouth information centre has invested around £22,000 on major improvements to its on-line window to the world.

The centre's new Discover Dartmouth website went on line earlier this year which is now available on the mobile website.

The spokesman said the launch had been made during regatta week to help the tens of thousands of people expected to pour in to the town for the huge event.

She said: 'We have worked hard to bring the 'live' date forward especially in time for Dartmouth Regatta so that the 1000's of visitors will hopefully benefit and of course in turn the businesses of Dartmouth.'

And she added: 'We will be launching our on-line booking service shortly, which will enable our visitors to book accommodation on the move.'
