Kevin Pyne, of Lake Street, Dartmouth, writes:
Peter Harrison's letter in last week's paper made me smile because I could not understand its relevance to Jacky Orsler's first an only letter to the Chronicle two week's previous, regarding what disappointing rotten co-participants the town council have turned out to be in the market square redevelopments venture.
It confused me as I could not see that it was at all relevant. Moreover, I hope he can prove the cigarette incident, which frankly many won't feel inclined to believe.
There seem to me to be far too many tall tales from those who leg it home and then from a safe distance sally forth with what they don't like about the town or its people.
If he were to say what a talented thoroughly nice person that Jacky actually is as she tries to bring up two lovely children combined with a full working life or how fantastic it is to see the area around Smith Street being rebuilt and refurbished by the mainly local younger builders, then a letter to the town's favourite paper might be relevant.
Ah but then you see I happened to have once been married to Mrs Orsler's sister and I know her to be a truly caring environmentally aware person who plays both the flute and piccolo and trained in London to become a very fine jeweller .
So what if she enjoys a rare and occasional fag?
Making a living in Dartmouth is not easy and it's made worse by high rents and visionless councillors and see-all pedants who have little to do on their visits here other then mind someone else's business.
