SUE BLACK, of Newcomen Road, Dartmouth, writes:
The blooming buskers are back! Perhaps ‘booming’ would be a better adjective, or several other words beginning with ‘b’ that I can think of.
Could someone please tell me how it is that buskers are allowed to perform with amplifiers in the Royal Avenue Gardens? Surely it should not be permitted.
People go to sit there and enjoy the sunshine, eat their lunch, or just enjoy the gardens, and are bombarded with noise, which unless they leave they can’t get away from.
I have no objection to unamplified busking or busking in the street, where you can listen or not as you wish. It is the forced listening I object to.
Last week I could even hear it in my garden halfway up Newcomen Road. In fact, it wasn’t unpleasant music – it was just there.
