The refurbishment of a town’s breakfast eatery is nearing completion and has gained some time.

Alf Resco’s repainting, installation of a new extraction system and refurbishment is nearly complete. The restaurant’s clock was reinstalled by contractor Philip Langman. The clock was purchased over 25 years ago in Buckinghamshire and has been above the restaurant ever since.

Kate Ryder, the owner, said: “The people who originally set up Alf’s were from Buckinghamshire. They bought the clock at a farmers’ market.

“My husband and I used to give them a hand. We started in 1994 and took over running it in 1997. We will have had a quarter of a century at the helm next year.

“The refurbishment has taken three weeks so far. If the weather had been kinder, it would have been less. The local trades we used have been brilliant.”
