A HOLIDAYMAKER had an unexplained encounter on a visit to St Saviour’s Church, Dartmouth.
A photograph she took of her son standing in the church aisle seemed to show a mysterious ghostly shape.
But the woman was not spooked by the image, which she says she showed to a priest afterwards and was told it may be a blessing.
Szabo Drimusch was on a holiday from Hungary. Her son, Tamas, is a kitchen porter at the Station Restaurant, where he has worked for three years.
He had not seen his mum for two years and they were both excited about her visit.
They went to the church because she is very religious and she wanted to look around.
Tamas said: ’We didn’t notice anything strange at the time but when we compared our photos there was clearly something there we couldn’t explain.’
Dartmouth vicar Fr Will Hazlewood said he had no known records of any unexplained appearances in St Saviour’s and suspected that the silhouette-type shape may actually be the base of the font.
‘Obviously St Saviour’s has been used by many generations and has borne witness to their lives,’ he said.
‘The walls radiate with their prayers, but we believe that, whilst they join us every time we worship God, they reside in another place.’
