The Devon Countryside Access Forum is looking for more members.

The Devon Countryside Access Forum is a statutory body set up by Devon County Council under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. Their website states that the “role of the Forum is to improve public access to land for the purposes of open-air recreation and enjoyment”.

Hilary Winter, forum officer for the DCAF, said: “We are fortunate to have many stunning outdoor places in the county to enjoy. If you would like an opportunity to get involved in discussing and advising on recreational opportunities and access why not apply to be a member of the Devon Countryside Access Forum?”?Each Forum has to include a wide and balanced spectrum of interests to include access users, such as walkers, riders, cyclists, carriage drivers and off-road bikers; land managers and those with other interests such as tourism, health, planning, sport and conservation. ?Coming up in 2018 will be the opportunity to comment on Natural England’s proposals for the England coast path in north and south Devon, as well as other consultations.

The Forum has seventeen voluntary members and Devon County Council, the appointing authority, is now carrying out its annual recruitment process.

Hilary continued: “We would like to hear from you if you are enthusiastic about recreational access to the countryside or urban green space; have a professional involvement, or are a landowner or land manager affected by recreational access on your land.

“No formal qualifications are necessary and all applications are welcome. Training is given. In this round of appointments we would particularly welcome applications from keen walkers and those living in the South Hams, North Devon or Exeter. Travel expenses are paid.”?For information, please ring 07837 171000 or see the website www.devon.gov.uk/dcaf  email:  [email protected]
