Sarah Duggan, of Baxters, Foss Street, Dartmouth, writes:
With comments in the Chronicle about the Business Improvement District seeming to be of a mostly negative nature, I thought I should write about what was for me very good news.
The BID had suggested via email that we contact an insurance company it recommended to see if we could reduce our premiums. I met the company at the local business showcase at the Guildhall, and with the saving I have made I have almost recouped my £300 annual BID premium.
Like many I have mixed feelings about the BID, but I believe the team should be given a chance – they are after all, with the exception of the manager, volunteers.
The fee is a lot for us all to find, but I hope there can be more lucky ones like me who can see an immediate quantifiable benefit for their business.
This is what we all look and hope for from being part of this process.
