GILLIAN BOWDEN, of Ridge Hill, Dartmouth, writes:
I would like to say thank you to all the people who have supported my draw for CLIC Sargent, the charity that supports children suffering from cancer and leukaemia and their families.
In June last year my grandson Harry was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and has had a tough nine months, with a big operation to remove his tibia and replace it with a titanium rod, as well as much chemotherapy.
All the way through CLIC Sargent has been there for the family at every move.
I decided I would like to give a little bit back for the help the charity has given my daughter, son-in-law and other grandson.
It started as a small draw, but it snowballed and Jenny Hassard asked to help also. We ended up with almost 100 prizes from friends and businesses in the town.
On Monday, March 21, at the rowing club, Harry picked the first ticket out after having treatment earlier in the day at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Wonford.
He was determined to do that duty. Then he was off to Bristol to have his last chemo session.
We have raised more than £1,300 so far, with donations still coming in.
My sincere thanks go to everyone who gave prizes and bought tickets from Jenny and myself. Thank you all so much.
