Marks & Spencer has apologised for insulting Dartmouth after launching an advertising campaign for Scottish crab in the biggest crab fishing port in the Westcountry.
But that does not mean the advertisement will be hauled down.
The Dartmouth store has a huge advertisement for Orkney crab plastered across one wall of the store – just a few yards away from the River Dart where scores of fishermen make their living out of catching local crabs in direct opposition to the Scottish operation.
The town celebrates its crab fishing industry with a yearly festival.
