Paul Beckwith Bennett, of Brixham Road, Kingswear, writes:

Ode to the parish council of Kingswear:

Our Jonathan, who art in Devon

Cllr Hawkins be thy name

Thy Parish come, thy will be done in meetings

And in council chambers.

Give us this day our daily

And forgive us when we question you

As we ask searching, unanswered questions.

Lead us not into playgrounds

But clear our drains and culverts.

For thine is the parish,

The power and the glory,

For ever and ever

(until you resign for the

third time),

Amen.

With apologies to the Lord’s Prayer.

Who can trust a councillor who resigns twice and is still there?

It is amazing how much Mr Trevorrow and Mr Hawkins silence their opposition by shouting them down and with bullying tactics. They run the parish as their own personal fiefdom, without a care for the electorate or the many in the parish.

With regards to the playgound, in a village with just 12 kids and one playground already, why do grown men want to champion such a divisive white elephant. Why? The mind boggles.

As for acting chairperson Mr Trevorrow, how can he allow a meaningless and piteously mal- grammatically formed letter to be read out against his fellow councillors, unless he – and Hawkins – were party to such a letter.

We want a peaceful parish run by a council with us parishioners in mind.

So please, both of you, resign and let harmony return to the wonderful parish of Kingswear that I have known since 1958.
