STUART and SUE ROSTRON, of Ford, Dartmouth, writes:

Unlike Justine Toye, Letters, May 3, we do not want the huge noisy double-decker buses charging up Dartmouth's Victoria Road.

We value our safety and have to keep a watch out for other vehicles taking to the footpath in an emergency deviation. Are visitors to the town aware of this danger?

She rather spoils her argument by admitting that she only discovered the changed routing by chance, having failed to notice the prominent notices that have been on bus stops for over a month.

By my calculation, we have been spared over 1,400 large noisy buses rushing past houses on Victoria Road since she last exercised her convenient shopping experience.

In common with the rest of the country, the place to expect to board buses for out-of-town journeys is at the town centre terminus.

All who live close to Victoria Road have the advantage of the hopper service, if carrying shopping is the criterion, a benefit not shared by the majority of people living in Dartmouth.
