A Royal Navy officer has appeared before a court martial charged with raping a woman at Dartmouth’s Britannia Royal Naval College.

Sub Lieutenant Samuel Mitchell, 26, appeared at the Portsmouth Naval Base court to face two charges of rape.

The case was adjourned for a pre-trial hearing on a date to be set. A trial is expected to take place in June.
