A DAY of family fun was enjoyed at this year’s Dittisham Regatta which took place in glorious sunshine on Saturday.

Crowds of people of all ages flocked to the village where a host of entertainment and attractions were lined-up on and around the waterfront.

The action-packed programme featured exciting rowing races, a rescue display by the RNLI and a parade of Old Gaffer boats.

Secretary Gail Mosley said: ‘The sun shone and everyone enjoyed themselves with games on the quay. The day was a huge success.’

The ever-popular children’s crab-catching competition on the pontoon proved much fun for adults and youngsters alike and surprise goodie bags were supplied by sponsors Dart Valley Cottages. Various organisations ran stalls and games and there was more shouting and cheering in the tug-of-war competition.

Representatives from St George’s Church ran a teddy bear stall and there was Rotary’s Splat the Rat and the Dartmouth Homeless Trust with roll a 10p.

The women’s institute sold delicious cakes and Dittisham Players put on a barbecue.

Money is still being counted but profits will go towards local good causes and charities.
