THE Princess Royal will be in Dartmouth next month for the year’s most prestigious passing out parade at Britannia Royal Naval College.

She will take the salute at Lord High Admiral’s Divisions on Thursday, April 14.

Princess Anne will represent her father, the Duke of Edinburgh, who was conferred as Lord High Admiral in 2011 by the Queen on his 90th birthday.

The Princess Royal will review the parade, which will mark the formal commissioning as naval officers of the latest group of officer cadets who will have completed their 30-week initial naval training course.

Captain Henry Duffy, commanding officer of BRNC, said: ‘Her Royal Highness last visited Dartmouth for a passing-out-parade in 2012 and we are honoured that she is able to join us this year as the Lord High Admiral’s representative.

‘It will be a very memorable day for all those taking part in the parade, particularly those who are completing their training and have worked hard to meet the standards we require of them.’

The Princess Royal has a long association with the Royal Navy. She holds the rank of Admiral as Chief Commandant for Women in the Royal Navy and has special relationships with HMS Talent and HMS Albion.

The Princess Royal is also Commodore-in-Chief for Portsmouth.
