A newly formed group which believes change is needed for the town to grow and prosper has released its candidates for the upcoming election.

The Dartmouth Initiative Group has 16 candidates standing in the town council elections on May 2.

DIG has said its only agenda is the good of the town and its people.

The group believes its range of individuals with a broad spectrum of skills would make them ideally representative of the towns population.

Among its ambitions, DIG wants to deliver what the residents of Dartmouth want and build an open and inclusive council that gets things done.

It is part of a “revolution” going on throughout the country with independent groups reshaping and modernising local councils to make changes to communities.

Candidate Adam Edsall, standing for Clifton said: “We are a group of people who love Dartmouth but feel that change is urgently needed for our town to grow and prosper.

“Our group is diverse but representative of the town; all are committed to working hard and keen to make a difference.

“We hope Dartmouth voters will give us a chance to do this and vote for DIG candidates on May 2.”

On Monday, the DIG candidates ran an evening at the Flavel Church in Dartmouth for residents to come and meet DIG candidates.

The DIG candidates come from different backgrounds and political persuasions, but are united in their love for Dartmouth and determination to create a more inclusive and effective town council.

Standing from the Clifton Ward is Adam Edsall, Ged Yardy, Lucy Williams, Sally Hibbert, Cathy Campos, Alisa Kefford Parker, Diana Case, Jess Pinder, Cherry Gooden and Graham Evans.

Candidates from the Townstal Ward include Graham Webb, Nathan Bodinnar, Lynn Gunnigle, Mandy Webber, Dawn Shepherd and Hazel Lewis.

DIG will be holding another meeting this coming Monday, April 15, at 7pm at the Flavel Church.
