Police are still hunting for the man they want to question over a double stabbing.
The 38-year-old Dartmouth man has been on the run for more than three weeks since the violent incident in the centre of the town last month.
In a report to town councillors, Insp Andy Tomlinson outlined what had happened the night a 25-year-old and a 28-year-old – both Dartmouth men – were found in Victoria Road at 8pm suffering from stab wounds.
He said: 'Following a dispute between the two male victims and a male suspect who was known to them, the suspect left the scene.
'He then returned with two knives and stabbed each of the victims before fleeing the scene.
'The victims went to hospital and were released following treatment. The injuries are not life-threatening.
'The named suspect is still being sought.'
Insp Tomlinson was outlining the crime incidents in Dartmouth during August, which amounted to 38 – compared to 43 for the same months last year,
They included a domestic incident in which a daughter attacked her father, an assault at the town's skate park and a smash and grab raid on a cafe.
He said a total of six people had been arrested in connection with the offences and another seven people dealt with by other means.
In a report to the town council's monthly meeting, he said that in the domestic assault involving a father and daughter the suspect was arrested but there was insufficient evidence to bring a charge.
The same people were involved in a second incident of wounding in which a man was punched and bitten by another man,
There was an assault in the skate park when a young teenager was punched by two other teenagers and enquiries are ongoing, said Insp Tomlinson.
In another assault, a man was slapped by another man and inquiries are also on-going.
Insp Tomlinson said there had been four offences of burglary which involved a holiday flat – where cash and a watch were stolen – and a shop where the front door was smashed in at 2.40am and a suspect from Cumbria is currently on bail.
The window of a cafe was smashed and the thief reached through to steal a charity box.
He said the fourth burglary had involved a man entering a house via an insecure door.
'He went to sleep in a bed. When the householder returned and asked him to leave he refused and then assaulted the householder and caused damage.
'He was arrested and charged with burglary and assault. The housholder sustained minor injuries.
'The offender is not known to the victim but does have an historic link to the house.'
