Blue Planet only emphasised a problem which was clearly shown in a Natural World programme called Message on the Waves in 2007.

It showed the damage being down to albatross chicks which had been fed plastic items which the adults thought were fish.

These included toys, combs, toothbrushes and lighters. The picture was truly horrific.

The couple who made this film so long ago in Hawaii should be celebrated. I believe this film resulted in Modbury going “plastic-bag free”.
