A PLANNING application to create a new parking space on Crowthers Hill will remove an old wall with historical features.

A planning application has been submitted to South Hams District Council to create a new parking space at 35 Crowthers Hill, Dartmouth.

The design and access statement for the application states that the site ‘consists of natural stone walls and timber fencing with a sloped access to the garden behind accessed by a metal gate.

‘The entire site is within a conservation area to the edge of Dartmouth’s conservation area. The natural stone wall to the north east of the site is listed and a parti wall to the neighbouring property.’

The applicants, Mr and Mrs A Davies, are looking to create a new parking space at the property by ‘pushing back the existing walls’.

The application states that this will be achieved by ‘removing the existing natural stone calls and fencing’ and ‘digging out as necessary to accommodate a single car parking space to the property’. The proposal will retain the existing listed parti wall.

The project would create ‘new retaining walls’, constructed ‘to the edge of the new space with timber fencing over and a new stairway constructed of natural stone will be integrated, with a metal gate to match the existing’.
