CAMERA happy residents have proved a hit on a photoshoot to promote. Local people are being used as models and businesses have been donating time and resources – and even some free hospitality – to get the Dartmouth Business Improvement District project off to a flying start. BID officials say their support has enabled costs to be kept very low and the images will be used in a national marketing campaign for and on the Dartmouthevery time.co.uk website. Over two days last week, photographer Lorna Yabsley said she was able to capture Dartmouth in perfect conditions, with bright sunshine throughout. A number of 'models' took part in the fun by paddleboarding on the river – and even jumping in now and then. While Chris and Sallie Cooper, from Kingswear, brought their catamaran out for the shoot during the morning, sailing in and out of the harbour past the iconic castle and beautiful headland around the mouth of the river. Dart Harbour made one of its boats with skipper Michael Blake available for the duration of the waterborne shoot. Later, Lorna, aided by BID manager Phil Scoble and assistant Alex Patey, took photos featuring Dartmouth Caring chairman Dee Nutt and her husband Martin, as well as a family crabbing off Bayard's Cove and the passenger ferry. The second day's shoot saw 'models' on Jawbones Hill followed by images capturing some the town's top restaurants and shops. Mr Scoble said he was delighted with the shoot and had been 'blown away' with the support. 'It was brilliant,' he said. 'The support we've had has been phenomenal. 'The shoots will continue and we are getting lots of suggestions for "faces of Dartmouth" and I'm looking forward to catching up with every nominee.' BID chairman Nigel Way added: 'The shoot went really well thanks to the support of the community. 'Everyone's assistance will help us to get the best possible shots for the campaign and website which will both go live in September.'
