Your report of Dartmouth residents being injured by falls on pavements, Chronicle, September 11, reminded me of the ‘DIY Pavement Pack’ distributed by Esther Rantzen’s BBC TV programme That’s Life.

Turning up my copy, I was reminded of its advice to victims to claim compensation from the Highways Department. The advice was widely available. Why is it not better known and acted upon?
