SHAUNAGH Radcliffe is delighted to be playing the evil Queen Ravenna in this year’s Dartmouth Players’ Snow White.

‘I love to be a baddie and Queen Ravenna is certainly evil but also glamorous and elegant,’ she said.

‘She has a magnificent sweeping dress with a train and commands the stage with her authority and confidence. She speaks to her huge magic mirror and summons her flock of ravens, who are all under her power. It is quite a spectacle.’

This year’s production, at the Flavel Arts Centre in Dartmouth, presents Anne Marie Rowden as the sweet and lovely Snow White, and Fred Radcliffe as her father King Leopold. Freya Hoban plays Prince Ferdinand and is featured in an impressive sword fight with Mere played by Jasmine Weston.

‘We have an amazing cast, including the seven miners of the forest, with the youngest being nine years old,’ said Shaunagh.

‘The young dancers representing the ravens are fantastic and move to original music which is interpreted very well. We have also included filming shots of the back story which will appear on the Flavel screen.

‘The effect is terrific and adds incredible dimensions to the Snow White experience.

‘We are incredibly lucky to have songs and original music composed by Norman Cork; script and filming prowess by Bill Hunt; hand-made costumes by Sophie Tope and Julie Tomkinson – all of them highly talented and living in Dartmouth. It is truly a community project.’

Snow White opens on Wednesday, December 28, at 2.30pm and runs for four performances on December 29, 30 and 31, all at 2.30pm.
