Gill Knight, of Stoke Gabriel Road, Galmpton, writes:
I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who came to Sainsbury's to see the final stage of the Olympic torch relay in Dartmouth.
As someone who regards themselves a fairly local, - living on the Dart in Galmpton, but working in Dartmouth, I was honoured to be carrying the torch, and therefore delighted that I had more time than most of the other torchbearers to share my pleasure and torch with others whilst waiting for the changeover. It has had the effect of a magic wand to all those who have seen and held it, bringing smiles to the faces of young and old.
As a result we have decided that it should do a tour of its own, trying to see how many people can hold/share it before the main relay finishes on July 27. So far it has had over 1,300 'touches' from schoolchildren, members of the public andsports groups, and I would be very pleased to lend it to any other local groups who are interested in sharing in the pleasure for an hour or two.
Please feel free to contact me if you know of a group or school who may be interested. 07765 111816, and thank you all once again for making my day extra special.
