Last Saturday saw Dartmouth Yacht Club host the official naming of their new motorboat and the blessing of the whole fleet.
On Saturday, June 30, all yacht club members were invited to watch the official naming of Doris on the Dartmouth Yacht Club pontoon.
Before the event which was frequently described as ‘Doris Day’, a reception was held for invited guests and DYC volunteers to celebrate the recent refurbishment of the club’s showers, kitchen and toilets.
Many people watched the ceremony from the embankment and the pontoon from 12.30 to 1.30pm.
The name inspiration for Doris came from a Sea Nymph in Greek mythology who represents the bounty of the sea where fresh water mingles with brine.
