EIRAN HIGGINS, of Bidders Close, Stoke Fleming, writes:
While walking my dog around Stoke Fleming and the surrounding areas, I can't help but notice how much dog mess is around.
It disappoints me that so many don't seem to be responsible dog owners.
However, on the route from Stoke Fleming park down Redlap Lane and part of the coastal path, there are no dog bins available. This is no excuse for not picking up after one's dog but if we aren't supplied with a means of disposal by the council then people will be less likely to do so.
It has to be said though that my biggest bugbear is people who pick there dogs mess up in doggy bags and then simply throw them into the hedgerow, regardless of bins being present.
All dog owners get caught short at some point, forgetting bags, but there is always something around to use or a way of moving it off the footpath.
I will be writing to the parish council about getting more dog bins, but I urge all dog owners to please pick up after your pooch so everyone can enjoy walking around our beautiful area.
