Damian Corbett, of Rose Cottages, Stoke Fleming, writes:
I felt I had to write to the letters page for the first time to object to the Christian comment feature in the last week's paper.
Its author Rolf Burnie refers to 'genetic entropy' as if it were a scientific fact. It most certainly is not.
In fact, there is absolutely no reputable scientific evidence for such a theory and it contradicts evolutionary science.
'Genetic entropy' is a theory dreamt up by young Earth creationists, who believe every word in the Bible in its literal sense and is an attempt to explain how it is that Noah lived almost 10 times longer than the lifespan of the human population today – for those of you wondering, you did hear right, apparently he lived for over 700 years..
If the paper must print such total nonsense. should the title of the column at least read 'Christian opinion'?
