Paul Handley, of Verulam Road, St Albans, writes:

On a recent visit to Dartmouth Museum, one of the curators kindly showed me the astonishingly ornate plasterwork ceiling two doors down, depicting the dream of Jesse, showing the family tree of Jesus.

The first-floor room is currently used for storage.

In most other towns, it would be cleared and opened to tourists – and residents – to marvel at.
