A May fun day was a great success last weekend in the town’s community Orchard.
The Friends of Dartmouth Community Orchard held the fun day at the Dartmouth Community Orchard as families with children of all ages from all over the town gathered under the shade of the great old trees at the Ridge Hill entrance to relax and play.
A treasure hunt took children round the apple trees searching for clues and many enjoyed traditional games such as Splat the Rat.
Dangerous Dads leader, Ian Blackwell engaged the youngsters with mini-archery, fire lighting and field cooking and the Greater Horseshoe Bat Project’s stall revealed the mysteries of the orchard’s nightlife.
Organiser, Sue Ayers said: “What a lovely day. It really was wonderful to see so many families having fun in this beautiful place-and the weather could not have been better.”
