Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity, is calling for people to come forward to help with volunteering for the charity across Devon.
Marie Curie is keen to hear from people to help deliver their companion service, which is part of a partnership with Royal Devon University Hospital and involves providing bereavement support over the phone.
The charity is also looking for people to help its fundraising and community engagement teams spread awareness of Marie Curie throughout Devon and encourage donations.
Sarah-Jane Trevor, Marie Curie Volunteer Co-Ordinator for Devon, said: “Our volunteers tell us how much satisfaction they get from giving even a small amount of time but helping make a huge difference in their local community. For every volunteering role we offer full training and support and I’d urge anyone interested in hearing more to get in touch. With the continued support from the people of Devon we can help more people have the best possible end of life, wherever they are and whatever their illness.”
Thanks to supporters and volunteers across the Southwest Marie Curie has been there for people over the past 75 years, and today its care and support is more needed than ever.
Marie Curie has a variety of services across Devon including the Hospice Care at Home Service where Marie Curie Nurses and Health Care Assistants bring the nursing, medical and emotional help people need, in the comfort of people’s own homes, whatever the illness. This service also provides support to the people closest to them, from reassurance and practical information, to letting them take a break.
