THE pit for Dartmouth’s new indoor swimming pool has been dug and the roof is going on.
These latest photographs have been provided by builder Kier Construction.
Site manager Chris Jewell said on Wednesday: ‘We are pouring the concrete to the base today.
‘A pump will be on site so the concrete can be pumped into the shuttering.’
Other images show the rolling of the roof top sheets.
Mr Jewell said: ‘Due to the length required these sheets cannot be delivered pre-made so they are delivered to site on a coil and rolled through a machine that presses them to the correct shape and cuts them at the required length.
‘They can then be crane lifted onto the roof when needed.’
He added: ‘We worked closely with Lidl supermarkets to enable access for the articulated lorry in which the rolling was carried out.’
Work is progressing well at the site and the project is on course for completion by the middle of October.
A fundraising coffee morning and lunch for the pool project is being held next Thursday at St Clement’s Church Hall, starting at 10am.
A fashion show will also be held at Townstal Community Hall on Thursday, February 25.
