ANNA SEWELL, of Seymour Drive, Dartmouth, writes:

I found out recently that yet again Dartmouth will be in darkness again this Christmas.

How do the council and the business forum expect anyone to want to come and do any Christmas shopping in a town so lacking in festive cheer.

For the last three years I have written a letter saying that the easiest and cheapest way of lighting up the town is for each shop to have an individual tree hung up outside, with lights on, of course. The town used to do this years ago and it looked fabulous.

How much organising would it take to get the council and business forum together with the shop owners to do this?

I know lighting up the town isn't cheap but in a historic town like Dartmouth we don't need brash street lights. We just need every shop owner to make a concerted effort to improve the shopping experience.

It only takes one or two places to start the ball rolling.

So come on Dartmouth, be brave and brightly lit this Christmas time.
