DARTMOUTH'S £2m indoor swimming pool WILL be built.

Pool trustees have agreed to a land deal that will see South Hams Council release the £400,000 they have promised the project.

The long-awaited plan has been given the green light after trustees have said they will sign a contract by a vital July 3 deadline to take over the freehold of the land on which the pool is to be built.

South Hams Council bosses agreed last Thursday to release the vital funds in time for the project to keep its current contract price offered by builders Kier Construction – provided a land transfer could be agreed with either the pool trust or Dartmouth Town Council.

David Shaw, vice chairman of the pool trust, said: 'After the meeting we passed a resolution that we would take up the offer.'
