Claude Byrd, of The Bight, Dartmouth, writes:
I realise that many of Dartmouth’s regatta visitors delight in air displays, but
the effects of the Vulcan and the Typhoon have been to devastate our bird life.
Year-round visitors are dismayed by the absence of our iconic seagulls, whose call they hear when they telephone from elsewhere in the UK, and from abroad, to reserve their stay here.
I am reliably informed that there is currently more chance of seeing a seagull at Bristol Temple Meads station or Bath Abbey than on the Dartmouth embankment.
This is surely a serious challenge to us all. What plans do the town council or the Business Improvement District have to restore the balance of nature in our beloved seaside town?
