THERE'S promise of a cracking party in Dartmouth on Sunday.

Street party fun is part of the weeklong South Devon Crab Festival, with events stretching from Dawlish to Plymouth.

Last night saw Dartmouth's TV adventurer Monty Halls talking about crabs at the Royal Castle Hotel.

On Sunday, chefs Mitch Tonks and Nathan Outlaw will be going head to head in a crab-cracking contest as part of the street party event.

The street party will be taking place on South Embankment with crab-inspired events plus music and other entertainment. During the noon to 4pm event, Mitch and Nathan will be demonstrating how to crack crabs and get the most out of them as they compete to see who has the crabbiest skills.

Mitch Tonks' Seahorse and Rockfish restaurants along with Cafe Alf Resco in Dartmouth have been organising crab-inspired menus and events for the festival.
