Mark Royce, of Lower Coltscombe, Slapton, writes:
As a resident of Lower Coltscombe, I am writing to express my concerns with the proposal for a woodland retreat.
Firstly, contrary to your article, I have not been consulted by Paddy Costeloe, despite being the adjoining property.
More importantly, this is yet another attempt by a developer to override the South Hams planning framework.
This area borders a site of special scientific interest and area of outstanding natural beauty and is within the area of undeveloped coast.
It remains one of the last unspoilt areas of Devon, home to much wildlife and with a stream that feeds directly into the Slapton Ley.
While I wholeheartedly agree that disabled people are not well catered for in Devon, I question the viability of this site from an access point of view due to the steep terrain; disabled people will be unable to access any of the chalets or move around the site without assistance from powered vehicles.
Moreover, the local infrastructure and access routes are totally unsuited to a large development, the construction of which, will also add light and noise pollution to an area of undisturbed countryside where, at present, there is none.
