JAYNE HAMMOUDEH-WEBB, of Victoria Road, Dartmouth, writes: I recently visited the local community kitchen run by the food bank at the Ivy Lane Youth Club where I was met with a welcome and witnessed what a great opportunity this provides for people to socialise and for children and adults to develop their cooking skills and try out some new recipes. I had never come across Glamorgan sausages before, but shall definitely be trying them again. More than this, though, it is now developing a skills-swapping element. Basic crochet, knitting, sewing and embroidery are now available on a regular basis on Wednesday evenings between 5pm and 7pm. In addition, local textile teacher Ann Marie Rowden and her staff at the Dartmouth craft shop Made With Love in the Pavilions is offering free make-do-and-mend classes on Thursday mornings between 10am and noon. Here, basic alteration and mending skills, such as hemming and replacing zips, can be learnt.
