Dartmouth Clinic is having a family open day at the end of the month.

The Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust said one of the comments it often hears is that people don’t understand what the Health and Wellbeing teams do.

In response to this some of the frontline staff in Dartmouth are holding an open day at Dartmouth Clinic from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, September 29.

There will be fun activities for all the family alongside free health checks and information about the planned new Health and Wellbeing Centre.

The event will include: health checks, fun health related activities for children, a chance to try out specialist equipment, advice about dementia and planning for older life, information about Dartmouth’s planned new health and wellbeing centre and information on opportunities to connect with people in the local community.

Julian Aryton, the locality manager responsible for the Dartmouth area for the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust helped to organise the event.

She said: ‘We often get comments from people saying they don’t understand what a Health and Wellbeing Centre is, or what services our community staff and intermediate care teams can offer.

“So our frontline staff have come together to host an open day for local people-with plenty of interactive and fun elements as well as information and advice.

“ As well as our own staff, representatives from partner organisations will be advising about the health and wellbeing service available in the local community.

“We are very close to the town centre and hope that if people are coming to town that day, they will take a few minutes to drop in to see us and give us some feedback on plans for the new Health and Wellbeing Centre.”

Visitors will also be able to see how different specialists work together as a single team to look after the community.
