A pair of herring gulls that nested in the Japanese Gardens in Royal Avenue Gardens in Dartmouth and hatched a chick, are safely rearing their one young offspring.

Ground-nesting is not uncommon for these birds and visitors respect for the gardens has served the pair well as their young, camouflaged chick continues to grow.
