Miss Teen Dartmouth has been invited to the House of Commons to talk about her role in the community.
Sarah Carpenter, who has lived in Dartmouth all of her life, has received a special invite request to represent the town, to visit and have a tour around Parliament this year by MP Sarah Wollaston.
She has been talking to the Chronicle about her aspirations as Miss Teen Dartmouth and her upcoming charity work.
A large part of the Miss Teen Great Britain is raising awareness and money for charities.
It is not a beauty contest, instead the competition is a platform to celebrate teenagers, their achievements and their goals.
In 2019, Sarah will be running cake sales, charity runs and school charity days to raise money for a number of charity’s including Breast Cancer Research, Together for Short Lives which Miss Teen Great Britain is teamed up with and some mental health charities.
She is intending to visit hospitals, open days at children hospices all over Devon and St John the Baptist Primary School for charity days.
Sarah has said she will be going into the schools to tell students about her life and how she dealt with bullying at school, plus what the pageant experiences are all about.
“When I’m on stage, I focus on me, I walk with my head held high and I make myself believe I can do this” she said.
“I cannot wait to get back into modelling and to see just where this year takes me and how far I’m going to go.”
Sarah has also now been scouted by some modelling agencies to kick start her career in the industry. She also attended the national finals for Miss Teen Great Britain last year which she desrcibed as the “most positive” experience.
