DARTMOUTH Business Forum is aiming to be a round-the-clock voice at the heart of the town's trading community. Chairman Peter Bailey, who has been at the helm of the organisation for just over a month, is hoping to re-engage with former members. He also wants to attract new interest in the group that represents businesses and professionals from around the town and neighbouring villages. He has already re-launched the forum's website and plans to offer an on-line discussion board for members to post ideas, concerns or topics for discussion to promote Dartmouth and district to a wider audience. 'It won't be a substitute for face-to-face meetings,' he said. 'but will provide a regular bridging point which I hope will be widely used on a day-to-day basis and will help the forum committee keep a finger on different issues'. Mr Bailey said he wanted to move the forum forward and re-establish the group with a clearer identity. 'Since the last meeting a lot of people have approached me saying they want to get involved,' he added. 'Dartmouth has a wealth of talent with a number of different businesses and if we work together I believe the forum can help promote and strengthen those partnerships. 'I hope people will be encouraged to get involved, to share ideas, talents and knowledge and feel part of an organisation that reflects and understands their needs.' Mr Bailey said he hoped representatives from different sectors of industry – such as hospitality, retail and professional services – would come forward to offer their expertise and play a greater role within the forum as elected industry representatives. 'I hope people from different backgrounds can bring different ideas as committee members and strengthen the forum as a whole so we are representative of all sectors,' he said. Members will be able to share their views on the annual membership survey after the summer and it is hoped that key speakers will feature at future meetings later in the year.
